September 5th marks the International Day of Charity! It’s an opportune moment to shine a light on the remarkable efforts of the USANA Foundation and our local program, USANA Kids Eat.
In a world still grappling with the challenges of hunger, this initiative stands as a beacon of hope, actively combatting food insufficiency and uncertainty for children within our local Utah community.
USANA Kids Eat: A Framework for Change
It’s a harsh, heartbreaking reality that hunger knows no boundaries, affecting lives regardless of age, location, or circumstance.
USANA Kids Eat’s program takes a proactive stance against this all too-common issue, creating a powerful framework to combat hunger, remove meal uncertainty, and inspire the community to unite for a common cause. Through strategic partnerships within the community, our awesome weekend bag program initiative aims to provide a stable source of food for those in uncertain times, enabling children to reach their fullest potential unburdened by the stresses and health impacts of hunger.

Nourishing through Backpacks: Providing More Than Meals
If you didn’t already know, a cornerstone of the USANA Kids Eat program is the distribution of backpacks filled with select non-perishable, easily prepared foods!
These backpacks serve as a lifeline for children who might not have reliable access to meals outside of school hours. By ensuring that kids have enough to eat even when school meals aren’t available, the program becomes a crucial source of nutrition and support.
Note that USANA Kids Eat is not a food bank—we do not accept food donations so that we can use financial donations to supply our own food, enabling us to constantly predict and anticipate what nutrients will go in each bag.

Empowering the Local Community
The heart of the USANA Kids Eat program lies in its dedication to feeding local students who are food insufficient at home.
Our initiative doesn’t merely provide hot meals and nutrition, it offers secure and safe food sources to at-risk children, bolstering their physical and emotional well-being. Through local campaigns and volunteer opportunities, the program doesn’t just raise public awareness but also generates the resources and revenue needed to make a lasting impact. But it takes a village to make this impact a reality!
A Journey Rooted in Community: Origins and Impact
The roots of the USANA Kids Eat program are firmly planted in the community of Salt Lake City, Utah. Our program’s inception in 2019 marked a significant turning point when the USANA Foundation acquired two local charities, KidsEat! and the Kids Next Door.
Since that time, it has provided hundreds of thousands of meals for growing students as they work hard to study and focus on their education. While they live their lives and get through each day, we serve them with love and the hope that food brings.
